December Mini-Swiss
The December edition of the Lansing Mini-Swiss boasted 30 players in 3 sections. The top section included 3 masters and 5 experts. Tournament Director Tony “Le Tigre” Nichols shared 1st with Grand Rapids’ hottest player, Ratko Bojanovic, and with Troy phenom Safal Bora. The second section was won by Grand Rapids coffeehouse master Kevin "K. J." Jackson; John Kenneth Brauker topped the third section.
Tough pairings department: Safal took down two of the masters before being held to a draw by Tigre's fluffy Catalan in the medal round.

(Left) Ratko Bojanovic trotted out an Evans Gambit in his Round 1 game against Peter Chen; Peter enjoyed a three pawn advantage but was on the defensive for most of the game in their hard fought draw. (Right) Tigre battles former Michigan Champion Gary Kitts in their round 1 match-up.
