Match Report

Grand Rapids Life Master Kevin Czuhai played two rated exhibition matches over the Thanksgiving break.

Czuhai and Michael

On Friday, he played Michael Chen.  The first game was a spectacular sharp slugfest with Michael finally prevailing.  In the second game, Kevin ground down Michael in fine technical style.  Word of advice for Michael's opponents at the K-5 Nationals in December--WATCH OUT!!

On Saturday, Kevin played a two game match with Andy Catlin.  The first game saw opposite side castling; Andy got careless and then got checkmated.  In the second game, Andy trotted out an ancient Steinitz gambit, and Kevin went for a too-speculative piece sacrifice, allowing Andy to tie up the match.
