West Michigan alum Matt Hassen earned his National Master title at the 2011 North American Open in Las Vegas.
Master Class!
Now a top law student at the University of Kentucky, Hassen spent part of his Christmas break capping off a fantastic tournament run that started with the 2010 Chicago Open.
It appears that Hassen has also earned his FIDE Master title. By winning his first five games, Hassen has likely pushed his FIDE rating north of 2300!
