Fisch wins Michigan Senior
With games commentary from Douglas Fick
Grand Rapids Life Master Eric Fischvogt won the 2011 Michigan Senior!
Thanks to Douglas Fick and Fisch for providing games from the event. Don't miss Fisch's last round win against Ron "G" Grzegorczyk.
Here is the rest of Douglas's highlight reel:
-
Beane Jr/Williams: Black's 25th. After missing a shot, Black goes material down and makes a wild pawn lunge that works when White fails to protect his kingside.
-
Vandivier/Roth: Black's gross 14th move leads to a standard K-side crush for Don.
-
Grzegorczyk/Bailey: This entire game could be titled "Ignorance is bliss" as Greg keeps finding blunders and Ron keeps missing ways to exploit them.
-
Mills/Kampfert: White makes a single error in a sharp Two Knights and gets crushed. Very similar to the tactic Fischvogt used in his last round game with Grzegorczyk IMHO.
-
Bailey/Smith: Starting with his 38th move Greg eats 3 poisioned pawns and lives to tell about it when his opponent misses multiple wins in TT and takes a repetition. Couple different puzzle position possibilities.
-
Kampfert/Williams: White's 21st. Not only does White miss the shot the very next move he makes a huge blunder and lets his opponent tear him to pieces.
- Lowery/Beane Jr: White's 31st and 33 moves. A couple nice shots go by but White wins anyway when Joe accidently drops a bishop shortly after.
The tournament was held in Flint over the second weekend in October. Our congratulations also to reserve winner Thomas Kampfert.
