Indy:  Deatrick and Apurva Michigan's Newest Experts; Seth draws Gareyev to share 2nd

8/14/2011.  FM Seth Homa drew overall winner GM Timur Gareyev in the last round to earn a share of 2nd at the 2011 Indianapolis Open!  A fine battle--see the game file below for Seth's notes.

In the under 2100 section, Alexander Deatrick tied for first, and Apurva Virkud was in the second group, one half point behind.  Both Alexander and Apurva earned their Expert titles!  Seth wrote that:

Safal Bora also had a solid tournament, scoring 2.0/5 in the Open section and picking up some rating points.

Special Report by FM Seth Homa on 8/13/2011.  Seth wrote: "Reporting from the Indianapolis Open! Michigan is doing extremely well! I have 3 out of 3, along with Grandmasters Gareev and Gurevich. They will likely play each other in round 4. In the Under 2100 section, Apurva Virkud is continuing her impressive win streak and has 3 out of 3. Not to be outdone, Alexander Deatrick also has 3 out of 3 in the same section. Go Michigan!"
