 Preliminary Report

Stan Beckwith’s 2011 Great Lakes Open

 

Here is the list of winners, courtesy of Tournament Director Dr. Ed Mandell:

  • Four players tied for first:  FM Seth Homa, NM Aleksandar Stamnov, Tony “Le Tigre” Nichols, and Benjamin Brandt. 
  • Rick Wilson won the Reserve, yielding only a draw in the last round. 
  • Sophie Stefanski won the Under 1000 one-day tournament.
  • Open Section - Top Under 1800 was shared by Justin Chen and Ted Mercer.  Justin Chen played all three masters, drawing Seth and NM Kevin Czuhai before losing to NM Stamnov in the last round.
  • Under 1700 Section.  2nd and Top C prizes were shared by Forrest Reddick and Jaime Chan.  Matt Moerdyk won First D.  Rod Schaaf and Sunia Kulkarnia shared the Under 1200.
  • Under 1000 Section.  2nd Place and Under 700 were shared by Chirag Rudrangi and Charles Dotson.
  • Clara McGrew won a special prize for most points (3.5) by a female player.
  • Rick Wilson won a special prize for most points (4.5) overall.
