 Tournament Report

Nichols wins Lansing City Championship
Reported by Andy Catlin

Tony "Le Tigre" Nichols won the Lansing City Championship, yielding only a single draw to Grand Rapids Expert Eugene Brumley.   It will be interesting to see what happens first--Tigre going over the 2100 mark or Brumley earning his inevitable National Master title!  Both players have been nearly unstoppable on their local tournament circuits in 2011.''

Eugene has blogged on the Lansing City Championship here, here, and here, and he has organized some of the games from the event here:

My personal choice for "best game award" would go to Eugene's Round 4 win against National Master Alisher Sanetullaev.  Watch how Eugene tears apart Black's position between moves 17 and 22!
