Xinqun Wu writes about her sons Peter Chen and Michael Chen:
The boys played in the Midwest Class Championship this past weekend. Peter scored 3.5/5 in the Class A section and Michael scored 3/5 in the Experts section.

Michael played a 95-year-old expert Erik Karklins in the last round and Michael lost. Mr. Karklins was a co-champion in the Experts section two years ago in the Midwest Class Championship. This time he tied for the second in the Experts section. Someone told me that Mr. Karklins studies chess everyday with his son Andrew Karklins who is a  Master. This is very inspirational for every chess player!

Here is a report about this year's Midwest Class Championship. A picture of Michael playing with Erik Karklins is also there.

Congratulations to our West Michigan players for their outstanding results in Chicago!
