6/27/2008Hello everyone! Welcome to my new blog here at The West Michigan Chess Website. The latest edition of the Great Lakes Open occurred a couple months ago, and although the turnout was a little less than expected (a normal occurrence at my chess events in today's economy), there was no shortage of fighting chess! Today's game features the top Junior player in Michigan, Atulya Shetty, versus former master and sometimes Ohio, sometimes Michigan resident, John Dowling. Atulya was in trouble for much of the game, but, by never giving up, and looking for every chance, Atulya was able to secure a draw at the very last moment. A further congrats to Atulya, who recently found out he will be representing the USA in the 2008 World Youth Championships (U12 section) held this October in Vietnam! Enjoy! BPF |
