How to not study the Opening

There are many ways to improve at chess. Tactical exercises, Endgame study, and playing over GM games, are just a few. But nothing promises instant improvement like opening books. While there are alot of books written about other aspects of the game, It is safe to say that the majority of all chess books sold are about the opening. Us class players can't get enough. I think many unscrupulous GM's are even inventing new openings just so they can write a book about it and get rich! The weasel...The Hawk...The Vulture. Never heard of them you say? Well you don't know what your missing! This is the exact answer for all your woes and fortunately for you for a small fee GM so and so will teach you everything necessary to Bash... Reveal... Tame... surprise...and reload against your opponents with top secret information. Of course, This is very time consuming and can get very expensive.

It's time for us to fight back! I have carefully formulated a system that will allow you to play any opening you want instantly and never buy another opening book again. That's right, Chess salvation is coming your way.

1st - You must carefully read book reviews. There are many websites such as chesscafe.com that regularly have book reviews. Dismiss any book that doesn't get a rave review(We want only the best!).

2nd - Don't buy the book! I know the temptation will be hard to resist after reading such a glowing review but it is absolutely necessary for the system to work.

3rd - Play the opening. That's right just start playing it. It's very important to become familiar with the opening before spending your hard earned cash.

My experience has been that when I play the new opening not only do I get terrible positions. I also have no idea what to do in the middlegame. Anyone with 2 fingers of forehead will come to the same conclusion that I did. That particular opening doesn't suit my style of play. Boy, I'm sure glad I didn't buy that book!

Now, Here's the best part. Simply repeat steps 1 thru 3. Genius! If I do say so myself. You can use this system for the rest of your chess career and leave your wallet in your back pocket.

CAUTION

There will be some people that will try to convince you that this system is unsound. I recently spoke with Fred Lindsay and after a point by point exposition on my revolutionary method Fred Says(Get this)" You get terrible positions because you don't study the opening" Blasphemy! Can you believe the nerve of that guy?(He sells chess books you know).

So, Be the first at your chess club to use my system and when one of your mates tells you about a new opening book he bought, Enjoy a good laugh. Ha..Ha...Ha!

Class Player Regards

Tony

P.S. I actually do have some ideas on how to study openings. Maybe in a future article...Na! I'll write a book:)
