9/5/2007As an experiment, I've enabled comments here. Unfortunately, time does not permit me to answer questions regarding my posts. But if you've found them useful, or if you have suggestions for other resources (particularly online resources) related to the material posted, please feel free to send in a comment.
Enjoy! The nifty diagram in the post below was created using a new piece of software made available by Alexander ("Sasha") Maryanovsky at this site. If you need diagrams for your online work, get over there and kick the tires! It's ridiculously easy to use and has several nice features even beyond what I've used here.
In case you're interested, I put in "beige" for light squares, "green" for dark ones, and chose the "Merida Flat" piece set.
Enjoy, spread the word -- and tell Sasha thanks! 8/30/2007
The following position, with White to move, comes from a game played this past weekend.

Welcome to westmichiganchess.com! For the official launch of the site, I decided to annotate one of my favorite Rubinstein games, a game that inspired me to become a slightly zany attacking player. In the space of just 16 moves, Rubinstein -- who is best known for the glacial calm of his endgame technique -- turns a stodgy Four Knights Game into a wild tactical melee, sacrifices a piece unnecessarily, disorients his opponent, and ... well, why am I telling you about this when you could click here and see for yourself?
